Wii's and dogs

We purchase a Wii and when we try to play the game our German Shepherd starts barking. I'm thinking that the pitch from the machine hurts his ears. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks Michael

RE: Buying 5ver from US to Canada

We just brought a 5th wheel back from Arizona, you do not need to have the paperwork sent to the border, unless you have a motor in the vehicle in fact you do not have to even stop at US customs. You will have to stop at Canadian Customs and declare the purchase where you will need your bill of sale, and title. At this time you will have to pay GST and pay for an inspection ($200+ plus an additional $100 in you have air conditioning, for a travel trailer you do not need a recall letter, we thought we would but you don't. The trailer needs to have CSA approval or a similar sticker approving it in the US, you don't need that to cross the border but will need it for the inspection. You have 45 days to have you trailer inspected the RIV (Registrar of Imported Vehicles) will send you an email with a form that needs to be filled out by the inspecting facility, again take all forms including the form that you received at the border from customs. The inspection takes about 20 minutes and looks at the CSA/equivalent sticker, tires and verifies the VIN once that is done you can then register your trailer in Canada. One word of warning in BC once I did all of the above I went to register my trailer and they had to personally verify the vin so even though I just had Ottawa verify it, I had to hook up my trailer and take to them to have them read the vin again. If you have any questions contact RIV I found them to be very helpful. Michael

RE: Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Avalable in Mexico?

After doing extensive reading I decided to try Mexican diesel in my 2007 Dodge, truck ran great no problems at all. I only used Mexican diesel when hauling the 5th wheel so I don't know if there would be more build up if I was just "running around" and making only short trips.

RE: Most Dogs

Shouldn't this be based on weight, we have a 120 lb German Shepherd. Isn't that worth 5 Shelties?

Hiway 37 from Caborca to Puerto Penasco

I originally posted this in Roads and Routes but haven't had a reply so I'll repeat the post here. We have friends that are leaving WH Kino Bay tomorrow and would like to take highway 37 from Caborca to Puerto Penasco. Is this a suitable route for a truck and 5th wheel? Thanks Michael

RE: Travelling to Kino Bay

If anyone is interested, I had my GPS (Trips and Streets) track our trip to Kino Bay, this might make the Hemosilla bypass a bit easier. If you would like a copy send me a PM. Michael

RE: Travelling to Kino Bay

Hi Thanks all for you input, we are safe and sound in WH Kino Bay. Yes the last 10 miles is not for the faint of heart but the view from our 5er is well worth the hour drive in. We are already booking for next year. Michael

RE: Boat Permits for Fishing in Mexico No Longer Required

Thanks lilhowlinwolf, we plan to fish from a boat available at the resort that we are staying in, but it belongs to a resident of the resort not a guide. So we need to bring our own gear. So now I know what I need.

Indian Waters

This is our first snowbird trip and we are presently in Indian Waters in Indio. Are there any RV forum members in this park? We are new at this and would like some help deciding which of the main things in the Indio, Palm Springs area are worth doing. Thanks Michael

RE: Possible crossovers from 101 to I5

Thanks Othertonka It's difficult to make decisions when all you have is what you can read, it's really nice to have the opinion of someone who has actually driven the road. I think that I will take Hwy 20 as I orginally planned. Michael

RE: Possible crossovers from 101 to I5

Thanks Campnfuls Just for your information this is a direct quote from Mountain Directory West. "We have not driven highway 20 but a reader tells us that between Redwood Valley and Williams there are 5-7% grades that can be up to 4 miles in length. This road also includes short sections that can be as steeps as 10%. It is said to be a narrow, winding, treacherous road for large vechicles. This may also be true between Smartville and I-80 east of Yuba. There are climbs and descents that may be 5-7% for 8 miles." You can see why I was not interested in this road. Michael

Possible crossovers from 101 to I5

While watching the storms hit California we are looking at a way to get back to I5 once we get on 101. I initially looked at taking 20 from Redwood Valley to Williams, but after looking at the Mountain Directory this sounds like a road I would rather avoid. So I would love so information on 128 from Geyserville, through Calistoga to Napa then 12 to Lodi where we have a reservation. My other choice is 12 from San Rosa to Napa continuing to Lodi. Any suggestions? Thanks Michael

RE: Most Exotic food you have ever eaten?

Deep fried bee pupae, stir-fried grasshoppers. Bugs are great, but I'm an entomologist. I've also had roast seal, not a bug but still good.
